Overview
MEP Design & Installation services for Preston City Centre’s £45m entertainment & leisure complex, incorporating an eight-screen cinema, bowling alley, food halls, bars, a public realm space, and a new city-based parking facility.
Built adjacent to the Preston Markets – a refurbishment previously completed by WLG.
Scope of Work
The Animate works comprised a CAT A fit-out of the new communal-use development. The project provided base-build services infrastructure to support future restaurant, leisure and activity tenants.
The MEP package included HVAC systems, smoke ventilation and domestic water services. It also covered drainage, gas infrastructure and LV power distribution. Small power, general and feature lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security and data systems were installed throughout.
The team coordinated services within high-footfall leisure areas. They addressed acoustic requirements for cinema spaces. The design also allowed sufficient capacity for catering equipment and specialist tenant loads.
All systems complied with statutory regulations and current building standards. Structured commissioning and handover ensured a fully operational, tenant-ready facility.

City Tower – Coalfire Ltd, Manchester
Global cyber security company Coalfire is to move its European and UK headquarters to 5,500 sq ft premises in Manchester’s City Tower
The move, which is scheduled to take place in early 2020, will see Coalfire occupy space on the 28th floor of the Piccadilly Plaza building.
The technology firm, which has its headquarters in Denver, opened its Manchester office in 2013 as a one-person operation but has since expanded to a team of 30. Coalfire employs more than 800 people across 11 sites, 10 of which are in the US.
Sunrise House, Manchester
Brown and Bancroft Interiors specialist commercial refurbishment team are back in Macclesfield delivering an exciting transformation at Sunrise House for the Lowry Partnership. Located on Hulley Road, Sunrise House is a two storey multi-tenanted office building boasting great links to the town’s transport hubs. Works will include the creation of new meeting facilities, reception and collaborative workspace
Cornwall Building, Birmingham
Bruntwood, a family-owned property company which owns high profile buildings across Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds has instructed Brown & Bancroft Interiors to deliver an extensive refurbishment at Cornwall Buildings in Birmingham. The Grade II listed building offers 28,500 sq ft of serviced office space and meeting rooms in the heart of the City’s Colmore business district. Improvements to the premises are set to include a new furniture package and installation of a coffee station on the ground floor, works to reinstate Cat A standard office accommodation on the first, second and third floors, redecoration of all common areas and WC’s, and further refurbishment works to selected suites.
Oak North, King Street, Manchester
Specialist Bank, Oak North, has moved into a new office in Manchester at Ship Canal House.
The office, which has capacity for 60 people, has 3,238 sq ft of space and is located on King Street.
