Project: Farington Pavilion, Lancashire County Cricket

Overview

Full MEP Design & Build services were delivered at Lancashire County Cricket’s second home, Farington Pavilion, as part of a £20m investment in a new training and community facility.

The development provides a modern, dual-purpose cricket centre that supports professional men’s and women’s teams, while also offering long-term access for local clubs, youth programmes and wider community use. Sustainability and inclusive design were central to the project, ensuring the facility is efficient, accessible and future-ready.

Scope of Work

WLG was responsible for the complete design, coordination, installation, testing and commissioning of all building services for the new cricket pavilion and associated in-ground infrastructure.

Mechanical works included HVAC systems, domestic hot and cold water services, and above- and below-ground drainage. Electrical works included LV distribution, general and emergency lighting, fire alarm, data and security systems, and energy-efficient building controls.

The scope also included coordination of all incoming utilities and external services distribution. Ducting and containment infrastructure served the pavilion, practice areas and indoor dome facility.

The services strategy was developed to support elite-level sporting performance. It also maintains operational efficiency and flexibility for community use.

All systems were fully commissioned and handed over with complete O&M documentation. This ensured a safe, compliant and sustainable facility aligned with the long-term vision for the Farington development.
