We’re delighted to welcome Karl Barraclough to WLG Ltd as our new Head of Mechanical Operations, bringing a wealth of industry experience, leadership expertise and a strong commitment to delivering excellence across our mechanical operations.
As WLG continues to grow and strengthen its capabilities, Karl will play a key role in developing our mechanical division, supporting our project teams and maintaining the high standards of service our clients have come to expect.
We caught up with him to learn more about his background, what attracted him to the business and what he’s most looking forward to in his new role. We also discovered a few things about life outside of work! 👇
Tell us a little about yourself?
“I’m Karl, and I’ve spent my career leading teams and delivering for customers. I’m big on doing what you say you’ll do, and I believe the best results come from a team that takes ownership and pulls in the same direction. I’m ambitious and always looking to improve, and that’s a big part of why I’m here.”
What attracted you to this company?
“The ambition. West Lancs has a strong reputation and clear growth plans, and I wanted to be part of that rather than watch from the outside. It’s a business going places, and I want to help get it there.”
What are you most looking forward to in your new position?
“Building a strong operations function that makes life easier. I’m looking forward to getting out on site, getting to know the people, and growing with the business.”
Is there a particular area of your work that you are especially passionate about?
“People and delivery. I like bringing the right people together, building strong customer relationships, and making sure we do what we said we would. I also enjoy solving problems and finding better ways of working. Nothing beats seeing a team pull together to get a great result.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“Sport, mainly. I’m a Man United fan, mostly an armchair supporter now, but I used to be a season ticket holder. I’m also a massive boxing fan and rarely miss a big fight night. The rest of the time it’s family and friends.”
What’s one fun fact about yourself?
“I’ve got the M&E curse: I can’t go anywhere without judging the services. Pubs, shops, hotels – if there’s pipework, ductwork or M&E services on show, I’ve noticed it.”
Welcome to WLG, Karl!
